The UN Voluntary Fund for Victims of Torture
The UN Voluntary Fund for Victims of Torture is again supporting the ERRC to provide legal services to Roma victims of torture in Europe. This year, the ERRC has been and will continue to focus on victims of torture inflicted mainly by police in Bulgaria, Hungary, Macedonia, Russia, Serbia, and Slovakia. The victims include Roma tortured by police during and after arrests and raids on Roma settlements. The victims suffer severe physical and psychological after-effects. Thanks to support from UNVFVT, the ERRC is able to ensure that they have access to justice and are able to hold their torturers to account.
