15 years since the landmark case, D.H. v the Czech Republic
23 November 2022
15 years ago, on 13th November 2007, a group of Roma supported by the European Roma Rights Centre defeated the government of the Czech Republic at the European Court of Human Rights.
It is arguably still the biggest Roma Rights case in history. The case, D.H. v the Czech Republic paved the way for the fight against school segregation, and opened the doors for similar litigation right across Europe.
The fight for an equal education continues today, and is why we are still litigating across seven countries to ensure Romani kids have the same chances as non-Roma in education. Litigation alone cannot end structural racism, but it is a very good place to start.
